New Battlefield Marker

On the 146th anniversary of the action at North Cavalry Field, community members and delegates from Pennsylvania Civil War Trails gathered at the annual Hunterstown Heritage Days to dedicate a new trails marker. This is a new state initiative to encourage heritage tourism throughout the state.

The marker is located on the Tate Farm in front of their noticeable yellow barn. Some people included in this photo are author Frank Meredith, photographer Jim Phelps, historian JD Petruzzi, myself, cartographer Steve Stanley, Ranger Troy Harman, Larry Clowers as Grant, Steve Alexander as Custer, Lenwood Sloan of the state's heritage tourism office, and living historians from PA's Civil War Trails.

There were many historical artists and authors attending the event, myself included. My painting of this battle is the very first to depict it. Another great day during my summer in Gettysburg.

  2. Hi there,

Send inquiries and questions to Barb Sanders at the park. She is education coordinator and ultimately chooses the interns for the summer season. Her email is Barbara_Sanders@nps.gov.

Hope this helps. What's your name and where do you go to school?

  5. Ok thanks alot. I really appreciate it. I'll look into it some more.

But i gotta ask, whats the experience like? I'd imagine that it's pretty awesome to be out on the battlefield every day.

  6. Hi Andy,

Can you forward me your email address? I think that would be an easier way to communicate in regards to this subject matter. Thanks!
